Opening of IFAT ENTSORGA
On 6 May Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Environment Ministry, Katherina Reiche, participated in the opening of IFAT ENTSORGA 2012, the world's leading trade fair for water, sewage, waste and raw materials management. The trade fair runs until 11 May 2012 and brings 2,900 exhibitors from 54 countries together in Munich.

Revision of the Directive on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment
After prolonged negotiations, the Permanent Representatives Committee reached agreement on the revision of the WEEE Directive. The recast is primarily intended to increase collection and recycling targets for waste electrical and electronic equipment and curb illegal exports.

Publication of 3R report
The report describes the current German environmental and waste policies (scoping period 2008 until 2010) with a view to the priorities contained in the Kobe 3R Action Plan.
